ADMISSIONS
Joining the Constantinian Order is nothing less than a public commitment to the Order’s mission: the glorification of the Holy Cross, the defense and propagation of the Catholic Faith, and its charitable works. Besides daily prayer, this commitment is reflected in the annual oblation which supports the Order’s good works.
Admission to the Constantinian Order is not something to be taken lightly but pursued after prayer and reflection on the part of the candidate. Membership is not solicited. Those aspiring to the Order are most commonly nominated by existing Knights and Dames or by the US Delegate of the Order. A submitted application does not guarantee admission, it must first be approved by the Delegation, and then by the Order’s Grand Chancery in Rome.
Membership in the Constantinian Order is only possible for practicing adult Catholics. The candidate must be in good standing and full communion with the Catholic Church, holding all the Church’s teachings without reserve, likewise living according to the Church’s perennial moral law in its entirety. Candidates cannot belong to sects, secret societies, or other organizations and associations whose principles are contrary to the Catholic Religion or the Order. If the candidate is married, the marriage must be a valid, sacramental one recognized by the Church.
If initially approved by the Delegation, aspirants to the Constantinian Order become postulants. Before investiture in the Constantinian mantle as a new knight or dame during a special annual ceremony, the brief, formative time of postulancy is spent in a deeper study and living out of the Catholic Faith, especially in practicing the Works of Mercy and developing one’s spiritual life, as well as coming to know better the history and mission of the Order. Prepared in this way, the Constantinian will be ready to exercise this ancient knighthood in a manner best reflected faith and charity.
